UNIVERSITY WELLNES CENTER: A HEALTHY UNIVERSITY ALTERNATIVE

Abstract

The movement of "Universities for Health” is a process of momentum to strengthen school health. This goal towards a healthy university, the University Welfare stands as transverse axis mediates all processes of university life while becomes developmental expression and satisfaction of its actors. From this perspective since 2009 was made official at the Universidad Central University "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas, a Center for University Welfare (Centro de Bienestar Universitario, CBU). While in the beginning the aims and objectives were clearly stated, its methodology has been developing and perfecting the process of implementation. In the last 8 years it has been realize process evaluation of experience from a number of quality indicators. Favorable views of both members of the Commission on Prevention of the University, responsible for preventing faculties, students who have been trained as peer promoters as well as those who have been recipients of scientific activities and extension of the CBU are obtained. The implementation of the methodology is recognized and supported by the academic community as well as other institutions and agencies nationally and internationally. Thus, the value of the proposed methodology and the relevance of its generalizability to other institutions of higher education in the country is found.
